Build a High FOC Arrow

To build a high foc arrow, you will need to focus on increasing the weight of the front portion of the arrow relative to the rest of the arrow. FOC (or "Front of Center") is a term used to describe the balance point of an arrow, which is the percentage of the total arrow length that is located in front of the center point. A higher FOC can help to increase the accuracy and penetration of the arrow.

Here are some steps to build a high FOC arrow:

  1. Choose the right arrow shaft: Select an arrow shaft that is appropriate for your bow's draw weight, draw length, and arrow length. A stiffer arrow shaft will generally have a higher FOC than a weaker shaft.

  2. Choose a heavier broadhead: Choose a broadhead that is heavier than the standard ones that come with most arrows. A heavier broadhead will increase the weight of the front portion of the arrow, thereby increasing the FOC.

  3. Use heavier inserts: Use heavier inserts that are made of materials such as brass or steel. Inserts are installed in the front end of the arrow shaft and can add significant weight to the front portion of the arrow.

  4. Add weight to the arrow shaft: You can add weight to the arrow shaft by using weighted inserts, wraps, or collars. These accessories can be added to the front end of the arrow to increase the weight of the front portion.

  5. Experiment with different components: You can experiment with different arrow components such as nocks, vanes, and fletching to find the combination that works best for you. Some types of vanes or fletching may be heavier than others and can help increase the weight of the front portion of the arrow.

By following these steps, you can build a high FOC arrow that will provide you with improved accuracy and penetration. It's important to note that increasing the weight of the front end of the arrow can also affect the overall speed and trajectory of the arrow, so you may need to experiment to find the right balance for your setup.
